Liturgy – from Latin liturgia,
from Greek leitourgia, both meaning A Public Service.
We call our worship the liturgy. As we pray
with the psalms and prayers of the church we celebrate God’s love with a
priceless gift handed down to us form generation to generation.
Through the liturgical year we embrace time as
we recount the history of salvation from the creation in Genesis to
redemption in the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ.
Through the liturgy we pray on behalf of and
for the whole of creation – not just for ourselves, and through the liturgy
we meet God in the company of all the saints and angels at the altar.
How we pray is how we believe. We therefore
avoid trendy ideas, preferring to stay with the thoughts and ideas which has
passed the test of time.
History of Christ Church

Christ Church Parish is housed in
the beautiful and historic "Carpenter's Gothic" church building, which was
originally built in 1869 on the foundation of the old Mission San Jose,
which had been destroyed by an earthquake in 1868. In 1982, the sturdy
wooden church was moved intact from it's original location in what is now
known as Fremont California to it's new location in San Mateo California.
The move made possible the restoration and reconstruction of the adobe
Mission San Jose, which was completed in 1985.
